Physical Media Library Pt 2

This project has brought out my inner tinkerer. I keep thinking I’m ready to post it here, but have another idea for a small change or additional functionality.

At this point I have several APIs connected to it in order to allow a user to scan a barcode of any film, book, music, or game. Some of these APIs are more reliable than others, and one in particular I’ve decided not to use due to the requirement that I add a “Powered by ___” to every single page of my website – despite it likely to be the least hit API of any of them. So, if you want to log board games you’ll have to input their details manually.

The feature add I have Claude slogging through right now involves adding a “Just watched?” button on item preview pages (or “Just read?” or “Just listened?” etc etc) that will add the date of click to the most recently watched/read/whatever field, as well as putting that date on the thumbnail text (if the date exists, it isn’t required).

It probably wont be today or even this month but I’d like to connect Bookathon to this Home Library app. Allow users to mark books as owned physical copies (be that in book format or audiobook CDs/Cassettes) in Bookathon, and allow them to be imported into the Home Library. It’d be great if I could get them to sync. Especially when a book in Bookathon is completed, it could update that last-read date in the Home Library.

While I am not ready to post the URL here are a couple preview images:
